Playing a Musical Instrument for Good Health

Headphones

I remember that some months ago, we did this meme about the things that make us happy. My list was not arranged in order of preference but more of a haphazard listing of the first thing that comes to mind. Somewhere down the end of the list is music and playing the guitar.

We all know that music affects people in various ways.  It changes our moods, reminds us of distant memories, pleasant or otherwise or sometimes, it simply makes us want to dance to the beat.  Personally, I find that music is an integral part of my life.  For the life of me, I could not imagine a world without a melody or a song. It just isn't possible for me.

Amazing Facts About the Human Body

I couldn't resist not sharing this. It's just so amazing how the human body is made. It's truly the work of a Genius and an Artist.  I am in awe at this wonderful creation which we often take for granted.

"I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well."

Psalm 139:14
---from the NIV

I am most sure you would try out no. 11.  I just did!  Talk about being a skeptic hahaha!  Some of the reasons behind these facts are still mysteries to me.  All I know is that there is a profound knowledge and wisdom into this creation.

Okay so enough stalling.  Just read this cool infographic:

Of Women Runners and That Time of the Month

Note:  If you're a man who happens to land on this article, I suggest you skip off to my other articles since this is something men can't really relate to.

With that, let's get on with the topic.

Ever wonder how that time of the month affects women who are into running or other kinds of sports? I am sure that a woman at some point, even if she's far from being an athlete, has noted subtle or not so subtle symptoms before or during her menstrual cycle.  As a runner or a sports woman, this monthly cycle may be of significance to one's performance.  On the other hand, it can also be inconsequential to some women.

Why Slaving Over the Treadmill Alone May Not Do the Trick

I downloaded this health app from Google Play just a couple of days ago.  It's called Noom Weight Loss Coach, one that keeps track of food and exercise, much like what My Fitness Pal does.  I'm just trying out different apps.  This one has got tips popping out and this just popped up to me on my tablet the other day.

So here's something to mull over:

Health Goals for 2013

Goals, Goals, Goals
Goals, goals, goals

I started with goals and I suppose, this blog would always revolve around those for the rest of this blog's life span. Just a little backtracking here, these are the ultimate (long term) goals when I started this blog.

Back To Basics: The Right Way to Breathe

Breathe Deeply
Breathe Deeply

You'd probably snort and skip reading this article. Or you're probably wondering if there's another way of breathing aside from taking in air and expelling that again either through the nostrils or the mouth.  After all, breathing comes to us so naturally that most of the time, we are unaware of doing it. It's some form of natural reflex for survival, something we hardly have any need for tips on how to do it.  Remember how an infant gasps for air for the first time and gives that shrill cry?  We knew it the moment we were born, right?

Humor me and try to do this little exercise:

Continuing the Journey

A.
Girl on a hammock

Hey there everyone! I guess I've been hanging and lazing around for too long, something like two weeks or so. First, I'd like to thank you dear readers for visiting this site, and my other site even if I have not been updating both for some time. May I just say that taking a long vacation is really invigorating. In fact, when I am home in the province, my blood pressure seems to be lower than my usual numbers, which often gets me thinking that if I started earning considerably from writing, then I'll probably just work from home.  But that's getting ahead of things.  I'm nowhere near sustaining my daily needs by just blogging hehehe.

Now it's time to get back on track.  It's actually taking some effort as my mind also took  a vacation.  So I'm easing back slowly into my normal routines and it doesn't help that I still have cough and cold spells in this crazy weather.  We only have two seasons and yet the weather is still having this identity crisis.  I shudder to think what it would be if we have four seasons in a day hahaha!
