Taking the Two Hundred Squats Challenge

Hey, who's up for some challenge?  I am!  I figured I'd start on some simple programs.  I actually saw the link from the Healthy Tipping Point, of which I am now a new follower.  There are actually five programs but only four had printable materials.

Printable materials of the challenges

I'm starting off with the two hundred squats program.  Yes, you read that right...that's 200. Sounds daunting?  That's why it's called a challenge!  We'll never really know if we can do it, unless we try.  But why am I doing it?  Did I wake up this morning and decided to torment myself?  Was I hit with the masochist bug?  Not really.  I just wanted to challenge myself.  Besides, this is also great for leg strengthening, or if you push too hard, more on leg cramping.  So, resist doing too much too soon.  I took the initial test, as suggested, before starting with the 6-week program today.

Two Hundred Squats.com

Not bad for a first try.  I did 60 squats before I stopped, not because I'm tired but I realized I was already overboard the excellent mark (not being a show off there hehehe...just being honest).  It was suggested that I already jump to Week 3 of the program but why the rush?  I'll start with Week 1 just the same.  Going to do this slowly, but surely.

It was a good feeling at the end of 60 squats.  I felt sweat breaking out and my thighs were feeling the burn already.  Like to give it a try?  Visit two hundred squats to learn more about the program.

I sure would like to display this nifty badge, hopefully after 6 weeks.  Cool huh?  Well, I still have to earn it.  I'll give an update from time to time.

  2. Aileen! I can do that. I mean, used to hehe. Just dropped by to say your blog is helping me a lot in my quest for a better health. Last Saturday, I was so frustrated with my unhealthy eating that I decided, on the spot, to go on the South Beach Diet. I was talking to a hotel manager here on how to sign up with their program (and how much I will get as a discount too hehe), when she asked me if I knew this lady she works with. It turned out that this lady (we went to the same school) had a stroke and had to undergo two brain surgeries. She came out of it well, miraculously. Her boss, who is a family friend, wrote in a local newspaper that it was the Divine Mercy in action. This was a major wake up call for me, along with the news that a neighbor who is not yet even 50 died. Lorna, the one who suffered a stroke, looks healthy, by the way She is at her regular weight, for crying out loud. I think what took a toll on her health is stress. Just last November 2011, her 16 year old son was ganged up by some notorious Baguio gang and was killed, with a majority of the stab wounds on the head. I don't know what will literally kill a mother more than this, losing a son. She was personally following up leads on those gang members who remain at large and was responsible for the arrest of the others. She was doing this singlehandedly, with very little help from the police. I am really praying for her now, and I hope I can go finally on a path to a healthy life. (Sowi, sis, major kuwento na naman. haha. I am so glad I met you on this virtual world.)

  3. Oh my...that is really a dreadful thing and it can take a toll on someone's emotional health. No mater how physically healthy we are, a depressed spirit and a troubled heart can wreak havoc to our bodies. On the other hand, it's good that you are embarking on a health journey yourself. Do not be too hard on yourself sis. Just keep things at your own pacing. Just as we didn't magically turn into what we are now, what we want to be, we have to work hard and consistently on it. Wish you the best of efforts in your health endeavor

  12. I admire your determination. I know I have maybe just 10 more pounds to lose but I'm really not doing much about it. I stopped going to the gym altogether because of work and training schedule and I'm really slacking lately. How do you keep the determination burning?

  26. I kinda stepped back for a while with my eating "rehabilitation" but now I really think I can do it (and because I had a sudden eww experience with cooking pork liver). Anyway, I love how you find these "exercise challenges", I'm a PT by profession but don't really practice what I preach. *lol*

Yep post the badge :) someone someday is going to take a look at that badge and be inspired to do the same :)
