7-Eleven Run 800: The Race I Ran Away From

Pout

I feel this is a good way to start the weekend.  After two months of trying to figure out who to address our concerns to, and not getting clear answers from race organizers and the store manager, we finally got the registration fees for the 7-Eleven Run 800 refunded.

Yesterday, we saw that the store which was previously undergoing renovations has finally re-opened and I immediately inquired about the refund.  The store crew told me to return today as he still had to ask the store manager.

Ain't No Fun in This Run

I cannot keep silent about the issues anymore and I'm not contented just leaving posts at their Facebook page or in various sites.  I need to voice out these issues or I'll probably burst.

Remember I wrote about 7-Eleven Run 800? It was supposed to be my second 5K fun run but it didn't materialize, so far. It was originally slated last August 26, then postponed for October 14, the reason being the inclement weather has delayed works at Cavitex where the marathoners would traverse.  The reason is understandable and I was actually gearing for the October 14 schedule, until another announcement was recently released. It was again postponed and re-scheduled to January 20,  2013.  I would have let that pass too, except that prior to this recent announcement, there were already a lot of issues that cropped up during the process of distributing the race kits and also the refunds for those who cannot be available on the new date.

Next Running Agenda: 7-Eleven Run 800

I enjoyed my first fun run so much that I went scouting for another event I can participate in.  In fact, in my current goals, I included running activities to my list.  My running buddy, Ate S. even wanted to upgrade already to 10K. She was probably caught up in the excitement of our first run.  So am I, but I'm not yet delirious lol!  After all,  I have a heart to protect.  I said it's too soon for me to upgrade to that category.  She agreed, so we're still on the 5K level, but now that I have a personal record, I'd try to beat that first.  My record time for the recent Milo Marathon is 45 minutes and 21 seconds.  Slow, right?  I don't mind, as long as I finished the race still standing up, no sustained injuries and still able to smile at the finish line.  I was expecting my legs to hurt days after but there was only slight pain, the kind of good pain you have when you exercise.

For running enthusiasts, I am most sure they have come across Takbo.ph.  They've got a list of running events there.  My running buddies and I chose this particular event:
