I Don't Feel Like Running...Or So I Thought

An extreme case of laziness has overcome me since typhoon Maring and the southwest monsoon.  Bad weather was a perfectly good excuse to stay indoors.  As I don't have a treadmill and I cannot do jumping ropes (my left knee can't take it...another convenient excuse) the only thing I've been doing in the interim is squatting.  I am back to that, but not to do any more challenges for now less I injure my left knee again.  I'm simply squatting as much as I can on alternate days.  I think I only managed three days before stopping again lol!

Last Sunday though, there is no escaping my running buddy.  To say that I am just plain lazy is embarassing so I went with her.  She knows me so I got to have a very plausible excuse and so far, the only acceptable excuses are when I'm sick or injured, going home to the province over the weekend, or a tropical storm is in our midst.  Last Sunday, it just drizzled, not enough to deter my more determined running buddy.  So off we went, but there was a big crowd that time and we just found out there was this Global Walk.  For a runner like me, I felt like I was watching a procession.  And indeed, it was.  I was hoping it would at least be a walkathon but it's not.  Anyway, we just let them pass by and do their own thing. I just feel they are partly to blame for depleting the supply of taho and I was so much hoping to get a hot cup of it.  Boohoo!  Oh well, maybe next time.

Global Walkers
We were able to run for about 30 minutes only.  I already got tired, having been cooped up too long.  My legs were still okay but my lungs were already bailing out.  It wasn't a good run , but at least I am up on my feet again.  Still, I am feeling sulky over the taho lol!

So to make up for a not so good run, we had a go at it again last night at Ayala Triangle.  I still wasn't in the mood for the run and for the first 20 minutes I was out of it.  I was paying more attention to the wet pavement, careful not to slip because it drizzled again. Before that I was hoping for rain just so we wouldn't push through anymore.  I know...my bad!

Anyway, after going past the 30 minute mark, I finally got the hang of it.  My legs were running on their own volition hahaha!  Nah, actually I was already enjoying the run.  I ran-walked-ran for a total of 55 minutes. My fingers got puffy and red again so I figured, I've had a good run already and it's time to cool down and stretch those taut muscles (what muscles?).

Yay for me and thanks to my persistent buddy.  If it had been only up to me, I'd be running in my dreams instead of working out my almost lethargic muscles (or it's probably just in my mind).  Sometimes, you just have to break the inertia.

You are lucky sis, palagi andyan ang buddy mo, hehe! Pero sis, di mo po talaga ako mapatakbo kahit pag umaambon lang, feeling ko magkakasipon at ubo ako, waaa!!!

  7. It's a good thing you have a running buddy. I was thinking of having a walk this afternoon but decided against it - na-highblood kasi ako this morning and didn't want to relapse or feel drowsy and not have someone with me (did I just make excuses?!). Anyhoo. You'll be back on the groove in no time.

  8. There is nothing more inspiring than a running buddy, or even like a companion that share same interest with you. I wish I could do some exercise sometime.:)

  17. you're lucky to have a good running buddy that is what i need, a persistent jogging buddy.. it may sound a lame excuse but it's true.. anyway i hope your knee is better now

  18. Great to have a runny buddy to keep you exercising constantly. Way to go.. I too have many excuses for not exercising.

  19. Aileen, now that you mentioned it on your post, I remember having puffy and red fingers too whenever I do something strenous (jogging ang jump roping), so I assume that is normal?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes it is normal...but it also means you got to relieve the pressure there. You could just put your hands above your head and shake them up, even if you continue to jog or jump rope...until the swelling subsides.

  21. I guess it's more tricky now to set up the custom domain (tricky for me at least hehehe)

Can you suggest a quick exercise for that? TIA!

    Mommy Maye

  27. Congrats for trimming down the tummy area. Problem is sagging skin talaga when you lose considerable weight. They always say to go for crunches and sit ups but unfortunately those are the exercises I dislike the most. Try mo kaya belly dancing? hehehe...But if you push through with Zumba, that would be a good way to burn and tone at the same time, I think.

  28. Uu nga sis. Hope we can start it na. Thanks
