Health Goals for 2013

Goals, Goals, Goals
Goals, goals, goals

I started with goals and I suppose, this blog would always revolve around those for the rest of this blog's life span. Just a little backtracking here, these are the ultimate (long term) goals when I started this blog.
  • To live a healthier lifestyle by forming good health habits
  • To abate the onslaught of full blown hypertension
  • To prove (more to myself) that my condition is still reversible and I can still be drug free in the future
  • Maintain an average ideal blood pressure of 110/70 mmg Hg
  • To inspire people who struggle with health
Whenever I seem to be diverting to different roads, I always go back to these main goals.  Going back always keeps me on track.

I suppose that if I keep faithful to these goals, the middle 3 are the only ones I could possibly cross out in the future.  The first and last one would always be works in progress.  The short-term goals, I have broken down into teeny bits for each month of last year.  I was able to do some, but I am still working out on most of those.  So, since I still have unfulfilled targets, I might as well continue working on those, instead of coming up with new ones and I end up overwhelming myself until I throw in the towel.

Still, for this year I'd like to focus on these things:
  • Go back to the BASICS
  • Work for better lifestyle BALANCE
  • Keep on RUNNING for good causes
  • Keep on IMPROVING myself, inside and out.
That's it for now.  Much as I love doing lists, no long, complicated one for me this time.  I did not even elaborate as I would do that in future posts.

  8. I actually do love that you didn't make a long list. Looks more manageable, and attainable this way. I really admire you for staying on track. Wish this year, I could say the same for myself. :)

  9. To be healthier is one of my goals too. Just when I reading your latest post, naguilty ako kasi I am aiming to run just to lose some pounds. I forgot that my health should be my main reason. Anyway, my annual physical examination results are all okay but I am not getting any younger and will be susceptible to sickness if don't help my body to be healthy. Thanks Aileen, you made me realize one important thing again.

  11. Hi Aileen, yeah, I hope you meet your goals! Just curious - even with meds your BP still is not stable?

  12. Hi Meikah! My BP is stable so far, just that I am still on meds to maintain that. I'm looking at being off the meds in the future. But first, I have to make permanent lifestyle changes. The meds are for short term solutions.

  13. I'm guilty of that too, Mommy Maye. That is why I shared that insight also. It's a common misconception about exercise. It helps with maintaining the healthy weight but we sure don't have to have our tongues lolling out so often if we just eat properly, just the right amount that we don't have to spend so much of our time burning the excess calories we put in.

  15. I still get sidetracked at times. What's important is keeping one's self in check and getting back on track again. :-) I'm not the type who bangs her head on the wall for backsliding hehehe. I'll just get a headache lol!

  19. I share the same opinion with Mommy Maye! A lot of people are thinking that exercising is solely for the purpose of losing weight. That's why when I tell anybody that I want to exercise, they all have the same answer, I don't need it as I am already slim. But more than being slim, our first goal for doing some exercises and eating healthy foods is to keep ourselves healthy and it's far more important than getting a good figure.

Good Luck to your goals Aileen! I think you're getting there in no time as you are one disciplined person. Happy 2013!

  20. I remember Kris Aquino saying she's slaving herself at the treadmill to look good for James (that was when they were together pa). Dapat, we should look good and feel healthy for ourselves.
